|Norris and Margaret Aldeen had a vision to provide an upscale public golf facility that was affordable for working men and women, and their children. A lifelong golfer, Norris A. Aldeen was taught how to play golf by his mother on a public course. He and his wife Margaret approached the Rockford Park District in 1988 with the offer of providing the property on which the Aldeen Golf Club now exists and "seed" money to help the district build its fifth golf course.
The firm of Dick Nugent and Associates was chosen from a group of well respected golf course architects and construction began in 1989. The golf course and adjoining 26 acre practice centre were opened for play on Margaret’s birthday, July 26, 1991.|
