Illinois Women’s Golf Association Victory Fund
The Illinois Women’s Golf Association (IWGA) was established in 1933 for the specific purpose of conducting the Illinois State Women’s Amateur Championship. The mission was to make sure that the women of the entire state were eligible to vie for the championship, whether they belonged to a private club or not, and no matter where they lived in the state.
A philanthropic arm was added in 1944 during World War II. The initial mission was to support the war effort and grew into a mission to support female golfers in Illinois. Annually, the IWGA raised money through the Victory Fund and then distributed these funds via scholarships to girls of fine character who possess a love of the game of golf, and through grants to collegiate women’s golf programs. In 2024, the IWGA partnered with the CDGA to carry on their 90-year history of hosting Illinois women’s golf championships as well as continue their legacy of making an impact in the community through the administration of the Julia Dodds Scholarship and mini-grant program.
