CDGA RELEASES 2022 EVENT SCHEDULES | |
Wednesday, December 1, 2021 - LEMONT, Ill. - Golfers and CDGA members will have the opportunity to compete in an array of playing opportunities next year, as revealed in the unveiling of the 2022 CDGA Championship and Social Competitions schedules Wednesday morning. In total, the CDGA will conduct 86 events, including championships and qualifiers - 55 on the Championship slate and 31 on the Social Competitions docket. Highlighting the Championship schedule will be the Association`s two premier events - the 91st Illinois State Amateur Championship and 102nd CDGA Amateur Championship. Illinois` top amateurs are slated to tackle Westmoreland Country Club in Wilmette, July 19-21, while the century-plus-old CDGA Am will visit Glen Flora Country Club in Waukegan, June 27-30. "Westmoreland and Glen Flora each have defining characteristics that will present unique challenges and an elite competitive environment for our state`s top amateurs," said Colin Wadelin, CDGA Director of Rules & Competitions. The CDGA`s other six championships consist of two specific for mid-amateurs (age 25 and up), two for seniors (55 and up) and two for teams - the CDGA Amateur Four-Ball and Senior Amateur Four-Ball Championships. A total of 21 CDGA-conducted USGA qualifiers are on the docket, as well as the 60th Radix Cup Matches. The CDGA Social Competitions calendar continues to grow, as these events suitable for players of all skill levels, genders and ages appeal to a wide variety of golfers. The schedule consists of four-person team, two-person team and individual net playing opportunities. In total, the Social Competitions schedule includes eight different arenas, including the new CDGA Senior Tour Edge Trifecta Series - a circuit open only to women above age 50 and men above age 55. "Based on previous registration numbers and individual feedback, CDGA members continue to express their desire for additional playing opportunities that are more casual in nature than our traditional Championships," said CDGA Senior Business Development Director Mike Gilligan. "As such, we`ve expanded our CDGA Two-Person Scramble Championship presented by Dunkin` and created the new CDGA Senior Tour Edge Trifecta Series to enhance our robust Social Competitions program." The first date on the Championship slate is a CDGA Mid-Amateur qualifier on April 18 at Maple Meadows Golf Club. The Social Competitions schedule will begin with a CDGA Member Appreciation Day at Glenview Park Golf Club on April 22. Registration for all events on the Championship schedule will open on Tuesday, Jan. 18. The 2021 CDGA Social Competitions slate will open registration on Monday, Jan. 31.
